The massive 76m Lovell telescope dwarfing the 42ft (13m) telescope
The 76M Lovell telescope seen from our bed and breakfast at Bridge Farm
Another view of the Lovell showing the full height
Zoomed in on the motor/gear room to give some idea of scale. They actually have lifts in both main towers
A view of the azimuth track for the Lovell telescope. There are two sets of railway tracks (doubled up) to guide the telscope round in azimuth
The scaffold covered area is currently being welded due to a split in the large semi circular supports which actually caused the girder to start buckling when the telescope was being driven for a recent observation
Another picture to give you some idea of the scale of the Lovell telescope. That is a normal sized door shown in the picture
Main Control desk gives data regarding all controlled telescopes including those based off site.
Input from the Lovell and 42ft (13 meter) telescopes comes into the left most bank
2 banks of De Dispersion units for the Lovell and 42ft telescopes
Final bank of radio equipment in the lovell/42ft observing room
Quick shot of the notes from our only lecture
The Mark II telescope (28x25m Yes it's a non circular dish)
Another view of the Mark II from further along our walk to the 7 meter telescope
The wave guide on the 7 meter (Actually only a 6.4 meter dish but always refered to as the 7 meter)
The 7 meter telescope (Apparently they are due to get the pressure washer out on the 7m 42ft and mark II telescopes soon)
Another view of the 42ft telescope with the Mark II in the background. The large glass windows under the 42ft telescope from this angle, is the main Lovell control room
A closer view of the 42ft telescope
